In Circuit Gang Programmer for Pics

PL665 Module

Lloyd Research has released a gang programmer for production programming blank PICs on assembled pcbs. Up to eight individual circuits can be powered up and programmed with full control of the programmer being available over an RS232 port or manually.

The programmer supports virtually all modern PICs which can be programmed with a serial bit stream. In accordance with Microchip's specifications for production programmers, the programmer verifies devices at both high and low Vcc with the low Vcc limit being just over 2 volts.

The programmer can either be built into an ATE system or connected to a purpose-designed jig which could be mounted with a 'biscuit' containing up to eight circuits.

The system comprises of an M9000 programmer mainframe with one or two PL665 modules. Each module has four IDC headers for easy connection to the target pcb. As each circuit has isolated data transceivers and clock drivers, faults cannot be transmitted from one circuit to another.

The system is very cost effective because it is based on the well established M9000 gang programmer.
