fxRAPIDO - Fast Flash Programmer

fxRAPIDO

The fxRAPIDO is the latest stand-alone Gang programmer for flash memory, microcontrollers and eproms from Lloyd Research who have been making programmers in the UK for over 20 years.

The fxRAPIDO can be fitted with a wide range of socket modules to accommodate different packages such as TSOP, SOIC, PSOP, (L)QFP, etc., as well as conventional DIL.

Either two identical or different socket modules can be fitted. Most socket modules have four sockets.

Many of the socket modules are fitted with plug-in sockets which greatly reduce costs. For example, consider a case of a company programming 1,500 flash TSOP parts per day on two socket modules with a total of eight sockets. After two months when 60K parts will have been programmed, most of the sockets will need replacing. A new set of sockets typically costs less than 20% of the cost of a new socket module.

A typical application is programming 16, 32 or 64M-bit TSOP flash memories for consumer products.

The fxRAPIDO is housed in a purpose-designed moulding. The device sockets are mounted on a horizontal surface for good contact to surface mount parts and for ease of handling whilst the keyboard and large LCD slope towards the user.

For users who prefer to work from master parts, the fxRAPIDO can be used in stand-alone mode without a PC. However, for users who have a wide variety of programming jobs where it is impractical to work from master parts, the fxRAPIDO can use our ’Job Manager’ software, which makes it very easy to repeat jobs without making mistakes. Master data can be downloaded from a PC’s USB port in about 10% of the time it takes when using either an old fashioned RS232 or Centronics port.

The PC software can automatically check file and/or programming checksums. It even reminds the user when a calibration check is due.
